My Ultimate Hotel List in Spain Part 1

Hotel NH Collection Amistad Córdoba

Cordoba’s old town is a place of magic and wonder, and my stay at the Hotel NH Collection Amistad Córdoba only amplified this experience. Nestled in the medieval Jewish quarter, this hotel is truly a rare gem, offering a perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort.

The hotel’s setting is breathtaking, housed within an ancient building that has stood the test of time. Walking through its corridors feels like stepping back into history, with every stone and archway telling tales of the past. As a solo traveler with a love for history, I couldn’t have asked for a more enchanting place to stay.

From the moment I arrived, the staff provided excellent recommendations for exploring the city, adding personal touches to my travel itinerary that made a big difference.

My room was a haven of peace after days filled with exploration. Spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully designed, it provided all the comforts I needed. The blend of traditional elements with modern amenities made it a perfect retreat. I appreciated the meticulous attention to detail that ensured a relaxing stay.

One of the hotel’s standout features is its charming little pool. After a day of wandering through Córdoba’s sun-soaked streets, taking a dip was a refreshing way to unwind. The covered courtyard was another favorite spot of mine, ideal for sipping a cool drink and reflecting on the day’s adventures. The tranquil ambiance of these areas added an extra layer of relaxation to my trip.

The hotel’s location is unbeatable for anyone looking to explore Córdoba’s old town. Just a short walk from major attractions like the Mezquita-Catedral and the Alcázar, it offered unparalleled convenience. Strolling through the historic streets, discovering hidden gems and vibrant local spots, was an effortless joy from this centrally located base. The hotel is divided between the main building and another just across the square. The second building features a well-equipped gym, which was perfect for keeping up with my fitness routine. The main hotel’s small pool and inviting patio area provided additional spots to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Driving to the hotel was a unique adventure through the narrow, winding streets of the old town. However, the detailed directions provided by the hotel staff made it manageable. Having a secure garage space was a significant advantage, offering peace of mind for travelers with cars.

Hospes Amérigo

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hospes Amérigo in the heart of Alicante as a single traveler, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The hotel is excellently located, making it easy to explore the vibrant city and its beautiful surroundings.

Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff, who made me feel right at home. My initial room had an issue with a noisy air conditioning unit, but the staff quickly and efficiently moved me to a quieter room, ensuring my comfort for the rest of my stay.

The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable. The housekeeping staff did an amazing job, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout my stay. This added to the overall comfort and pleasantness of my experience.

One of the highlights of my stay was dining at their partner restaurant, which serves some of the best tapas I’ve ever had. On one of the nights, they featured a flamenco dancer and singer, creating a truly memorable and authentic Spanish experience.

However, there were a few issues with the room that I feel need addressing. The shower head fell off several times while I was using it, narrowly missing my head on one occasion. Additionally, there was a leak from where the shower connects to the tap, causing water to soak the floor and making it extremely slippery. This situation could be particularly hazardous for elderly guests. It’s puzzling why a top-end hotel like Hospes Amérigo hasn't upgraded their showers to better suit their otherwise high standards.

Despite these minor inconveniences, my stay at Hospes Amérigo was wonderful. The combination of excellent service, prime location, and delightful dining experiences makes this hotel a great choice. I would happily stay here again in the future, hoping to see some improvements in the bathroom facilities.

Gran Hotel Sol y Mar in Calpe

I recently stayed at Gran Hotel Sol y Mar in Calpe as a single traveler, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. This adults-only hotel is in a prime location, offering stunning views and immediate access to the beach and promenade.

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a smooth check-in process. The staff provided all the relevant information, making it easy to settle in. The attention to detail in this hotel is truly impressive, with thoughtful touches like free pool towels, slippers, and water.

My room was spacious and well-appointed, featuring a huge, comfortable bed, a modern bathroom, and plenty of storage space. The pillow spray and foot cream were lovely additions that enhanced my stay. Although I didn’t have a sea view room, I can only imagine how spectacular those views must be.

The hotel's half-board option offered very good food, with a variety of excellent breakfast choices. The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience every day.

The pool area is a highlight, with three levels of beautifully designed spaces and plenty of sunbeds. The pool bar serves excellent drinks, making it easy to relax and enjoy the stunning surroundings. The fact that you can step right out onto the promenade and beach is a huge bonus, allowing for easy access to nearby bars and restaurants.

All in all, my stay at Gran Hotel Sol y Mar was wonderful. The combination of excellent service, luxurious accommodations, and prime location makes this hotel a top choice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Calpe and will be booking again later in the year. Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Hotel MiM Ibiza

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel MiM Ibiza as a solo traveler, and I must say, my experience echoed the positive reviews I had read beforehand. This was my first time in Ibiza, and Hotel MiM made it an unforgettable experience. I already plan to return at least once a year for as long as I can, as the staff, food, location, and overall ambiance are simply brilliant.

From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the attention to detail and the professionalism of all the staff. They were incredibly kind and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay. A special mention goes to the friendly driver who picked me up from the airport and the night staff who consistently greeted me with a smile and were always ready to assist.

The culinary experience at Hotel MiM Ibiza is outstanding. The chefs prepare delicious and beautifully presented meals that never failed to delight. Breakfast and dinner were both exceptional, with a variety of choices that cater to different tastes.

The pool area is wonderful, kept impeccably clean and attractive. The size of the pool was sufficient for a relaxing swim and the overall vibe was very pleasant. I also loved spending time at the Sky Bar; the new entrance is much clearer and more inviting. The efforts made with music and DJs added a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.

The location of the hotel is fantastic – close to the airport, the beach, the promenade, numerous restaurants, and the old town and port. This convenience made it easy to explore and enjoy everything Ibiza has to offer.

One small hiccup during my stay was when I lost my work laptop. However, the General Manager was incredibly quick and attentive in helping me locate it, which I greatly appreciated. This level of care truly exemplifies the exceptional service at Hotel MiM Ibiza.

While the rooms are a bit on the small side and the soundproofing could be better, these minor issues did not detract from my overall experience. The quality of service and the amazing amenities far outweigh these slight drawbacks.
