Exploring Gibraltar

The road trip to Gibraltar was nothing short of picturesque, with stunning coastal views and charming towns dotting the landscape along the way.

Sunborn Gibraltar Hotel

Introduction: Welcome aboard the Sunborn Gibraltar, where luxury meets innovation in a truly unique setting. This floating hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience that combines the elegance of a posh yacht with the convenience of a prime location. Join me as I recount my unforgettable stay at this captivating establishment.

The idea of a hotel on a yacht may seem unconventional, but it works brilliantly here. Every aspect of the design exudes sophistication and charm, creating an ambiance that is both welcoming and refined.

The hotel is surrounded by an array of bars and restaurants, the hotel offers easy access to the vibrant nightlife and culinary delights of Gibraltar. Despite its central location, the hotel maintains a sense of tranquility, allowing guests to relax and unwind in peace.

The staff at the Sunborn Gibraltar are truly exceptional, providing impeccable service with a warm and welcoming demeanor. Whether it's attending to your needs or offering recommendations for local attractions, they go above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. Additionally, the prices for drinks and food are reasonable, adding to the overall value of the experience.

The hotel's pool area provides a refreshing oasis amidst the bustling surroundings of Ocean Village. While the water may be cool, the atmosphere is nothing short of inviting, offering the perfect spot to soak up the sun and enjoy a leisurely swim. Plus, with daily cleaning service and mini-bar refills, every moment of your stay is tailored to perfection. For the ultimate experience, I highly recommend opting for a room with a balcony. Waking up to such a spectacular vista is truly a dream come true.

Despite its proximity to the airport, the Sunborn Gibraltar maintains a tranquil atmosphere with no noise disturbance. Additionally, its convenient location makes it a short walk to the city center, allowing easy access to a myriad of attractions, shops, and entertainment options.

Little Bay Bar and Indian Restaurant: A Culinary Adventure in Gibraltar

As a solo traveler exploring Gibraltar, I stumbled upon a hidden gem that truly exceeded my expectations - Little Bay Indian Restaurant. Walking into the restaurant, I was immediately drawn to its charming decor, adorned with twinkling fairy lights and fresh flowers, creating an inviting atmosphere. Opting to dine on the terrace, I found myself surrounded by a mix of locals, regulars, and fellow tourists, a testament to the restaurant's popularity and warm ambiance. The attentive staff, led by Manager Kelly, made me feel right at home, ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.

A Hike To The Ape's Den in Gibraltar

As I perused the menu, I was excited to embark on a culinary journey through Indian cuisine. With each dish that arrived at my table, I was met with a burst of flavors and aromas that tantalized my taste buds. From the savory curries to the aromatic spices, every bite was a revelation. One dish, in particular, stood out - the chiken tandori, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Even as a solo diner, I felt like a valued guest, with the staff graciously accommodating me.

Despite the potential crowds, the Ape's Den is a must-visit destination in Gibraltar. To avoid the busiest times, I recommend arriving early in the morning, around 9:30 am, to enjoy the serenity of the surroundings before the influx of visitors.

Purchasing a nature reserve ticket from the cable car provides a convenient and cost-effective way to access the Ape's Den and other attractions in the area. It's advisable to buy your ticket online in advance to streamline the process and avoid queues.

As you ascend towards the Ape's Den, you'll encounter the monkeys roaming freely along the pathways and stairways. It's fascinating to observe them in their element, soaking in the panoramic views from their elevated vantage points. These adorable creatures exhibit a relaxed demeanor and are unafraid of human presence, often going about their activities unperturbed.

However, it's crucial to respect their space and avoid any gestures or attempts to interact with them, especially if they're seeking food. Coaxing them with human snacks can disrupt their natural behaviors and contribute to health issues. Instead, admire them from a respectful distance and appreciate the opportunity to witness their fascinating behaviors in the wild.

From Gibraltar to Cadiz

My journey from Gibraltar to Cadiz was an adventure filled with stunning coastal views and cultural discoveries. Starting from Gibraltar, I enjoyed the mix of British and Spanish vibes before driving along the coast to Cadiz. Along the way, I stopped at a cafe for delicious food and beach vibes. Arriving in Cadiz, I found a comfortable stay at Soho Boutique Cadiz, ready to explore the city's historic streets and lively atmosphere on my own.

Soho Boutique Cadiz

During my stay at Soho Boutique Cadiz, I was welcomed by a beautifully renovated hotel tucked away on a narrow street near the cathedral. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making our room upgrade a delightful surprise. As we stepped through the main door to reception, the stunning renovations and decor immediately caught our eye, blending traditional charm with modern flair. Our room was exquisitely decorated and featured unexpected luxuries like a 55-inch TV and an excellent bathroom with a walk-in shower. Situated in the heart of Cadiz's historic center, the hotel made it easy for us to explore all the major attractions on foot. However, our otherwise pleasant stay was marred by the poor sound insulation in our room. Despite the modern amenities and friendly staff, the thin walls made it difficult to escape the noise from neighboring rooms, impacting our overall experience. Nonetheless, Soho Boutique Cadiz remains a beautifully designed and lovingly renovated hotel, offering a comfortable stay amidst the charm of Cadiz's old town.

Cadiz Streets

Entering Cadiz's Old Town, my first stop was the Ayuntamiento, where colorful gardens surrounded a fountain featuring the statue of "Cadiz A Moret," honoring Segismundo Moret, a beloved 19th-century politician. Nearby stood the city hall building, a grand sight against the blue sky. Following the ancient stone walls, I reached the Puerta de Tierra, the Gates of Earth, which once guarded the city and connected Old Town with newer sections. Moving on to Plaza de la Constitucion, I admired the Puerta de Tierra from afar, its historic presence commanding attention. As I wandered around the square, taking in different angles of the gate, I marveled at Cadiz's rich history. Returning to Old Town, I walked along the Paseo Del Vendaval, enjoying views of the coastal shore and catching sight of Castillo de San Sebastian in the distance before heading back to the hotel for dinner.
