Dim Sum Adventure at Yauatcha, London

I had a dim sum craving in full swing, and smack in the middle of London’s vibrant Soho district. Where to go? Yauatcha Soho, of course! I’d heard great things, and as an American on the hunt for some top-notch dim sum, I figured a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant was the place to be. And let me tell you, Yauatcha Soho did not disappoint.

Right off the bat, I kicked things off with a cocktail at the bar (because, why not?). The lychee cocktail stole the show, tasting like a mini-vacation in a glass—fruity, floral, and just the right amount of sweetness to get the taste buds ready for what was about to be a dim sum adventure.

When it came to seating, I scored a cozy little spot downstairs, which I think is the hidden gem floor. The vibe? Moody, a little mysterious, and let’s just say the lighting was doing its part to make the dumplings look extra glamorous. Honestly, it felt like being in a dimly lit, luxurious dumpling den.

And the food… oh, the food. Let’s start with those dumplings. Every single one looked like a mini work of art (I almost felt guilty eating them, but not really). My personal favorites? The prawn and chive dumplings—packed with flavor—and the lobster dumplings, which were so good they might just ruin all other dumplings for you. If you’re a fan of mushrooms, the mushroom cheung fun is a must-try. Every bite was pure magic.

The main dishes kept the flavor train going, too. I went with the fish curry and rib-eye beef, and let’s just say there wasn’t a single bite left on the plate by the end. The curry was bold, aromatic, and had just the right kick. The beef? Tender and oh-so-flavorful. Paired with some classic egg fried rice and Singapore noodles, it was a feast I’ll be dreaming about for a while.

Shout out to Nicole, my server extraordinaire, who made sure I was well taken care of. From explaining each dish to making sure I had everything I needed, the service was absolutely top-notch. Every staff member I encountered knew their stuff, and it’s little details like that which make you want to come back.
