Mont Saint Michel

Visiting Mont Saint Michel felt like stepping into a fairy tale. This iconic island commune, rising dramatically from the waters of the Normandy coast, is one of those places that you have to see to believe. As I approached, the sight of the medieval abbey perched atop the rocky island took my breath away. The whole place seems to float between the sea and sky, and it’s easy to see why it’s often described as one of the most magical places in France.

Exploring the narrow, winding streets of the village felt like a journey back in time. The cobblestone paths, lined with charming shops, cafés, and centuries-old buildings, are full of history.

L'Ermitage Mont Saint Michel

Traveling solo can sometimes be a challenge when it comes to finding the perfect place to stay, but my experience at L'Ermitage Mont Saint Michel was nothing short of exceptional. This small, boutique hotel felt like a hidden gem, especially for someone like me who was on a journey to explore Mont Saint Michel.

From the moment I stepped into my room, I knew I had found something special. The room was beautifully designed, with every detail carefully thought out to ensure comfort and luxury. It had everything I could possibly need, from a Nespresso machine to a couple of complimentary bottles of water. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it easy to sink into a deep sleep after a long day of exploring. I did find the European-sized pillows a bit too thick for my liking, but luckily, there were two softer, American-sized pillows tucked away in the closet. Once I discovered those, I was in sleep heaven.

The bathroom was a highlight for me, featuring a stately clawfoot tub, a separate shower, and a private toilet. Every aspect of it screamed luxury, and I couldn’t help but indulge in a long, relaxing soak in the tub. It was the perfect way to unwind.

One of the best parts of my stay was starting each day with a delightful continental breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. The food was fresh, delicious, and authentically French. It felt like the perfect way to fuel up before heading out to see the sights. I even had dinner at the restaurant one evening, and the meal was nothing short of divine—each bite was packed with flavor, and the service was top-notch.

Speaking of service, Christophe and the rest of the staff were amazing. They made me feel incredibly welcome and ensured that every detail of my stay was perfect. Christophe, in particular, was a gracious host, always ready to assist with a smile. It was clear that he and the entire team took great pride in making sure guests had an unforgettable experience.

Even though L'Ermitage Mont Saint Michel is a relatively small property, it offers the full service and amenities of a luxury hotel. I even used their laundry service, which was efficient and convenient, adding to the overall ease of my stay.

The decor throughout the hotel was refined and elegant, yet it never felt stuffy. There was a perfect balance between stateliness and comfort, making it easy to relax and feel at home. The hotel felt more like a well-loved home than just a place to stay.
