Exploring London's Best Stays: My Top Hotel Picks

Royal Garden Hotel

During my recent solo trip to London, I stayed at a well-located hotel that made my visit enjoyable and comfortable. The rooms were spotless and well-equipped, and I was lucky to have a quiet room on the 10th floor, away from street noise. This floor also had an excellent Chinese restaurant with great views.

I loved the area, especially because Whole Foods was right next door. Being next to Hyde Park, there was a nice walking route available, and the hotel was centrally located, making it easy to reach many popular places.

My room had large windows that offered views of either the park or downtown. The rooms were clean and high-class, with attentive service throughout my stay. The best part was being next to the huge park and lake. I enjoyed jogging, riding bikes, or just strolling to visit the swans, which was a nice break from the city. The hotel also had a fun piano bar where you could sing along to oldies, and it stayed open late.

The hotel has been renovated and continues to make improvements. I had dinner at the hotel's restaurant and was pleased with the quality and variety of food. The gym was small but well-equipped, and the breakfast buffet had everything I could wish for.

Overall, my stay at this hotel was great. It provided everything I needed for a comfortable and enjoyable visit to London. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the city.

Royal Lancaster London

The Royal Lancaster London boasts a fabulous location near Paddington Station, Hyde Park, and numerous fine dining restaurants. While it can be a bit expensive, the experience is absolutely worth the price. The bellmen were incredibly efficient, getting my bags to my room faster than I have ever seen.

Despite being in a busy area, there was no noise at night, ensuring a peaceful sleep. The room featured a working television and a modern bathroom equipped with provided toiletries. I only stayed for a single night but had an incredible experience nonetheless.

The highlight of my stay was the breakfast. The hotel offers guests a buffet with nearly endless options, plus a complimentary order of anything from the menu. The bathroom was fabulous, with an efficient layout and an amazing shower.

From the effortlessly friendly greeting at the front desk to the little touches like the beautiful scent throughout the hotel, my stay was delightful. The shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and shower gel came in large bottles, which was a nice change from the usual tiny sample sizes.

Overall, the Royal Lancaster London provided an exceptional stay with attentive service, thoughtful amenities, and a prime location. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The Hari Hotel

I recently stayed at The Hari Hotel during Ascot, so prices were high, but it was worth every penny. The room was just perfect—quiet, overlooking the beautiful Belgravia properties, and with a super comfy king-size bed. It was ideal for a short stay and anyone looking for a bit of luxury.

The decor in the guestroom was stunning, with plush upholstery and bold white Arabescato marble. I loved the luxury linen, the complimentary mini-bar, and the walk-in rainforest shower stocked with natural and eco-friendly products from The Organic Pharmacy. It had everything I needed for a spontaneous trip, making me feel right at home in London. A highlight of my stay was the Terrace, a little gem suggested by the hostess. I'm so glad I took her advice. Angelica and Sergiu made the experience even better with their genuine hospitality. They made me feel so welcome. The food was amazing too—I highly recommend the truffle arancini and the famous donuts with Nutella or pistachio. They’re to die for! Angelica and Sergiu consistently provided the best service I’ve experienced in London. Their dedication to excellence showed in every interaction. Whether I needed help, advice, or solutions, they went above and beyond with professionalism and a personal touch. They made me feel valued and appreciated.

Breakfast at the hotel's restaurant was another treat. The Italian eggs with burrata and truffle were delicious, and Ariana's suggestion of the blueberry smoothie was spot on.

Overall, my stay at The Hari Hotel was fantastic.

When it comes to exploring the financial district of London, the Lincoln Plaza Hotel offers an exceptional blend of comfort, convenience, and top-notch service. I recently spent a week there, and here’s why it stood out as a fantastic choice for anyone visiting this part of the city. As a solo traveler interested in exploring London's financial district, Lincoln Plaza Hotel provided an ideal base. Additionally, there are several places within walking distance, providing options for dining, shopping, and exploring.

Middle Eight Hotel

Finding a luxurious 5-star hotel that offers great value for money can be a challenge, but Middle Eight Hotel in London truly hits the mark. I recently had the pleasure of spending a wonderful 24 hours at this exceptional establishment, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Here’s why Middle Eight Hotel should be at the top of your list when visiting London.

Despite being a 5-star hotel, Middle Eight offers remarkable value for money. I managed to secure a special members rate of about £250 per night, which is fantastic considering the level of luxury and service provided. The hotel’s attention to detail and the quality of the amenities make every penny well spent.

The rooms at Middle Eight are spacious and beautifully designed, providing a comfortable and relaxing environment. From the moment I stepped into my room, I was struck by the size and the modern decor. It’s clear that great care has been taken to ensure guests have a memorable stay. The bed at Middle Eight was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in, with the fluffiest pillows that ensured a great night’s sleep. A special mention goes to Saquib Chowdhury, who went above and beyond to ensure that all my requirements were met. His welcoming and accommodating nature set the tone for a first-class experience throughout my stay. If only all hotel staff were as well-trained and helpful as the team here! I was pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful touches that made my stay even more enjoyable. A personalized welcome message and complimentary treats and cakes in the room were lovely, thoughtful gestures that added a personal touch to my stay. It’s these small details that make a big difference.

The Standard Hotel

Staying at The Standard Hotel in London is always a delightful experience, and my recent visit confirmed it once again. With its unique features, excellent location, and top-notch service, The Standard continues to be a standout choice for anyone visiting the city.

One of the unique aspects of The Standard Hotel is the availability of windowless rooms, specifically the Cosy Core rooms. These interior core rooms might lack windows, but they more than make up for it with their lush shower plants, plush design, and perfect sleep conditions. Ranging from 19 to 26 square meters (205 to 270 square feet), these rooms are the ideal London hideaway, especially after a red-eye flight or a late night out. The absence of windows ensures a quiet, dark environment that is perfect for uninterrupted rest. The location of The Standard Hotel is unbeatable. Situated right across from King’s Cross Station, you are exceptionally well connected to anywhere in the city. Whether you’re exploring London for business or pleasure, the convenience of having a major transportation hub at your doorstep cannot be overstated.

One of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast buffet. With a wide selection of options, there is something to satisfy every palate. During my visit, the weather was nice, and I had the pleasure of sitting on the beautifully decorated terrace. Surrounded by plants and flowers, it’s a wonderful way to start the day and enjoy a leisurely breakfast.

This was my second time staying at The Standard Hotel, and once again, it was a lovely experience. From the comfortable and stylish rooms to the convenient location and exceptional service, everything about the hotel contributed to a memorable stay.

The Holmes Hotel

There’s something truly special about finding a place that feels like home, especially when you’re far from your actual one. For me, that place is the Holmes Hotel London. Having stayed at various hotels in the city, staying at the Holmes has been a reaffirmation of just how exceptional it is. Here's why this is by far my favorite hotel and why I will undoubtedly be coming back.

The incredible staff at Holmes Hotel are a significant part of what makes it feel like home. They remember your name, your room preferences, and even your favorite drinks at the bar. This level of personalized service is rare and greatly appreciated. Benjamin, who manages the front office, ensures that service is always the top priority. His leadership shines through in every interaction. Ash is another standout; her warm personality and exceptional service make every stay top-notch. I genuinely miss her when it’s time to check out. Ash's attention to detail and friendly demeanor make each visit memorable.

Charmane is my go-to for anything I need, from researching details to tracking down my phone, which I once left in a taxi. Her resourcefulness and dedication are invaluable, and it's clear why she is a lead in the front office alongside Ash.

Silas, the new bar manager, has seamlessly integrated into the team. Despite it being my first stay with him, his professionalism and personable nature were immediately evident. The bar at Holmes Hotel has a lovely vibe. In the evenings, they open up the French doors, letting in a warm breeze that complements the fantastic music. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a busy day.

Holmes Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to numerous shops and restaurants, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. The proximity to public transportation adds to the convenience, allowing easy access to all parts of London.

The breakfast service at Holmes Hotel is great. As someone with dietary restrictions, I appreciated the gluten-free toast, eggs, and plain yogurt options. The quality and variety of the breakfast offerings ensure a good start to the day.

Vintry & Mercer

When all my preferred hotels were fully booked during the Ascot, I decided to give Vintry and Mercer a chance. This boutique hotel, located just steps away from Saint Paul’s Cathedral and conveniently situated at Mansion House tube station, turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It’s a very nice boutique hotel that offers a unique blend of vintage decor and modern amenities. The rooms are on the smaller side, but they are delightfully designed and equipped with everything you might need for a couple of days in London. The bed is cozy, and the air conditioning works smoothly, ensuring a comfortable stay regardless of the weather outside.

One of the standout features of Vintry and Mercer is its decor. The hotel leans heavily into a vintage aesthetic, yet it somehow still feels very modern. It might not make much sense in writing, but you’ll immediately get it when you walk in. The blend of old and new creates a charming atmosphere that is both unique and inviting.

The location is ideal for anyone looking to explore the city. Being just a few steps away from Saint Paul’s Cathedral means that some of London’s most iconic sights are within easy walking distance. Additionally, the proximity to Mansion House tube station makes it incredibly convenient to travel to other parts of the city.

While Vintry and Mercer offers many positives, it didn’t quite live up to the quality set by other 5-star hotels I’ve stayed at. Despite its charming design and convenient location, it lacks some of the high-end touches and services that are standard in other luxury hotels.
