A Perfect Getaway at La Zambra

Staying at La Zambra Hotel in Mijas felt like stepping into a dreamy oasis, where you can truly unwind and just be yourself. Named after a style of Flamenco danced barefoot, the whole vibe of the place is all about freedom and relaxation. From the moment you step into the airy lobby, with its patios, fountains, and leafy garden glimpses through latticework, you feel a sense of calm wash over you. As the late afternoon sun casts soft shadows on the whitewashed walls and natural stone floors, you can’t help but appreciate the thoughtfulness behind the design.

I stayed in one of the beautiful rooms with a private balcony overlooking the pools and lush gardens. The decor had a handcrafted touch, with locally made rugs, lamps, and chairs, giving it a warm, cozy feel. The bed was hands down the comfiest I’ve slept in, and the duvet was a welcome bonus. Plus, the aircon was so quiet, which is always a big win. And let’s not forget the little touches—like the turndown service, which made me feel extra pampered.

The food here is fantastic. Breakfast was a feast of everything you could possibly want, from fresh breads and pastries to cold cuts, cheeses, fruits, yogurts, and even fresh pancakes and eggs. I loved that you could order coffees and teas with no extra charge, and the fresh juices and mimosas were a fun, unexpected perk.

The gym was impressively equipped, and the outdoor area for free training was perfect for a quick workout. I also joined a morning yoga session (again, no extra charge), which was a peaceful way to start the day. Tip: Make sure to book your spot with the concierge ahead of time. I also tried out a tennis lesson, which was easy to arrange, and the instructor was fantastic—I learned a ton.

Speaking of the concierge, they were super helpful in recommending restaurants nearby and even booked tables for me at the hotel’s own dining spots. Their recommendations were spot on. Service around the pool was excellent too; I loved how easy it was to order drinks or lunch, and the quality was top-notch. Plus, the sunbeds were ridiculously comfortable, and there was always enough for everyone—no need to rush and reserve one.

Overall, this hotel gets a solid 10/10 from me. The subtle smell of jasmine wafting through the hotel was like the cherry on top, instantly putting you in that perfect holiday mode. If you’re looking for a place to completely relax and enjoy the finer things in life, La Zambra Hotel is definitely the spot.
